Travis Smith: my resume, bio and photos back to the main blog page

Yeah. So.
It’s time again.
Time to make promises. Time to let my fingers write checks my ass has to cash.

I don’t like resolutions. I like goals. I like achievements. “Be it resolved” reminds me too much of people dickering over trifles in a city counsel meeting.

Nevertheless, I’m not so crass as to suggest everyone else change the well-accepted terminology that’s been established for this exercise, and I’m not so original as to be able to resist just such a Jan. 1 post… (I am, however, able to be late about it!) So here we go!

1. Love: Keep all my existing love, family and friend relationships strong and healthy.

2. Health: Play ultimate at the same or better level all year.

3. Blog: Write on my blog often enough that I’m not embarrassed about when it was last updated.

4. Photos: Get every single image in my photo library titled, tagged and rated.

5. What: Are you serious? That’s impossible.

6. Answer: Yes it is, and yes, it probably is that, too. But I’m committing.

7. Rebuttal: Whatever dude, you’re high. But good luck.

8. Work: Meet Hop Studios budget and project goals.

9. Health: Maintain a healthy weight.

10. Travel: Visit three countries and get passport stamps from each.

11. Finance: Buy real estate.

12. Music: Take drum lessons.

Yeah, that’ll keep me busy.  I ought to get a bumper stocker for my car: “Ask me about my New Year’s Resolutions!”

Overheard

“The sad truth is that most evil is done by people who never make up their minds to be good or evil.”

...who said it?

“Almost every American I know does trade large portions of his life for entertainment, hour by weeknight hour, binge by Saturday binge, Facebook check by Facebook check. I’m one of them. In the course of writing this I’ve watched all 13 episodes of House of Cards and who knows how many more West Wing episodes, and I’ve spent any number of blurred hours falling down internet rabbit holes. All instead of reading, or writing, or working, or spending real time with people I love.”

...who said it?

“Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.”

...who said it?

“I play with variables constantly.”

...who said it?

“Only the person who has learned Continual Love coming from a heart of Gratitude/Worship can effectively deal with the problem of loneliness.”

...who said it?
