This friendly cab-driving fellow drove me from the airport and we talked about the city the whole way, despite awful morning traffic that meant it was a very slow drive. It's a flat rate from the airport to Manhattan. On the way back, a different cab driver "threatened" in advance to overcharge me $10 because of "traffic," for which he figured I should pay a total of $45. I refused to negotiate, he ran the meter during the traffic-free trip, and it only got up to $29.20. In retrospect, I should have tipped this guy more. |
