Forgive the techno jargon, but I need a hand getting my new Web camera to work. I’ve got this cool Web camera, a Pan Tilt Zoom Dome Camera, model ACD-1500, sitting on my dining room table.
And I’ve got this tiny, powerful video Web server, a BlueNet video server, model IVS-100.
Out of the video server, among other wires, comes an RS-485 (serial) connector, that connects to just two wires, which connect to the camera, which control the pan tilt zoom. Very elementary.
However, I can’t get the video server box to send any darn commands to the camera. I can’t even tell if it’s sending juice down the line. I went out and bought a multimeter to see if there was power coming out the RS-485, but it turns out, I don’t have the faintest idea how a multimeter works.
Any advice anyone has would be much appreciated. How do I get these two devices to talk to one another?
