We’re Writing BitTorrent for Dummies

I’ve been spending a fair amount of time with Jason and Noriko recently.

Friday night, I went to a nice little restaurant called “rime” (the “e” is backwards, I can’t do that online, though).

It was a Turkish restaurant / electronica jazz club.  I don’t think I’ve ever been to a combination Turkish restaurant-jazz club before.  But the food was good, and the music also.

I took lots of pictures, some with my camera, some with Jason and Noriko’s.  Then by accident I slammed their camera into a glass of beer, shattering the glass and cracking their LCD screen.  But the beer glass, though the top two-thirds was in shards all over the table, didn’t even spill. True story.

This morning I went to The Elbow Room, a breakfast cafe in Yaletown. Susie says her Eggs Benedict were superb, but my French Toast was spongey and the service was rude, but not rude enough to be entertaining.

Or maybe it was too early in the morning for witty repartie.  Whatever.

Tonight, I watched The Incredibles on DVD.  This makes it the fourth time I’ve seen that movie, and, while it doesn’t get better with EVERY showing, it certainly never gets worse.  This time I noticed the wacky keyboard inside the island’s main computer, and the opening shot of the ‘60s news footage, interviewing Mr. Incredible when he was younger, starts with the words Pixar and Disney streaming by vertically on the fake film footage.

Note to self: ALWAYS, ALWAYS take a waterproof layer when you leave the apartment.  How many times must you learn that particular lesson?

Overheard

“The sad truth is that most evil is done by people who never make up their minds to be good or evil.”

...who said it?

“Almost every American I know does trade large portions of his life for entertainment, hour by weeknight hour, binge by Saturday binge, Facebook check by Facebook check. I’m one of them. In the course of writing this I’ve watched all 13 episodes of House of Cards and who knows how many more West Wing episodes, and I’ve spent any number of blurred hours falling down internet rabbit holes. All instead of reading, or writing, or working, or spending real time with people I love.”

...who said it?

“Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.”

...who said it?

“I play with variables constantly.”

...who said it?

“Only the person who has learned Continual Love coming from a heart of Gratitude/Worship can effectively deal with the problem of loneliness.”

...who said it?
