Susie and I be in San Francisco today.

I’d planned t' post and be tellin' ye about th' initial gatherin' o' th' Dummies Unconference, th' first and therefore th' biggest (and also th' strongest, fastest and most intelligent) e'er get together fer authors o' Fer Dummies books.

At check-in, each author gets a name tag wi' th' books they’ve written.  Susie’s says: “Buzzmarketin' Wi' Blogs Dreamweaver Bittorrent” which sounds like a pretty kickass book (and gives me spellchecker a fit!).  Many o' th' other authors have just one or two books on their tag.

Anyway, I be goin' t' talk about that, but actually, as we be wanderin' back betwixt th' Borders book store and th' fleabag inn, we crossed a little park known as Union Square, and what should be goin' on, but a HUGE rally fer th' USC football team!

Aye, it turns out that our alma mater, USC, be holdin' their annual Cal Weekender in town this weekend, and we stumbled into th' rally, wi' th' 100+ member brass band in full regalia, shanty lassies prancin', people shoutin' “Fight On!” wi' th' V gesture everywhere, etc. etc.

It be surprisingly emotional fer us.  Susie and I first dated in college, and took our honeymoon here in San Francisco.  In fact, we visited th' lobby o' our weddin' night fleabag inn, th' Fleabag inn Triton, today.  It’s been a wonderful little nostalgia trip so far, wi' th' added bonus o' bein' tax deductible.

I would share many morrrr pictures wi' ye, but I forgot me camera card reader.  sigh.  I have a big card, but th' photos will remain on it until we get back t' Vancouver.  Fer now, enjoy these camera phone shots.

Overheard

“Th' sad truth be that most evil be done by people who no nay ne'er make up their minds t' be good or evil.”

...who said it?

“Almost every American I be knowin' does trade large portions o' his life fer entertainment, hour by weeknight hour, binge by Saturday binge, Facebook check by Facebook check. I’m one o' them. In th' course o' writin' this I’ve watched all 13 episodes o' House o' Cards and who knows how many morrrr West Win' episodes, and I’ve spent any number o' blurred hours fallin' down internet rabbit holes. All instead o' readin', or writin', or workin', or spendin' real time wi' people I love.”

...who said it?

“Live a good life. If there be gods and they be just, then they will not care how devout ye have been, but will welcome ye based on th' virtues ye have lived by. If there be gods, but unjust, then ye should not want t' worship them. If there be no gods, then ye will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in th' memories o' yer loved ones.”

...who said it?

“I play wi' variables constantly.”

...who said it?

“Only th' person who has learned Continual Love comin' from a heart o' Gratitude/Worship can effectively deal wi' th' problem o' loneliness.”

...who said it?
