IN THE MAIL

Susie is currently awaiting the arrival in the mail of a Palm Pilot III.  Of course, in another example of superb Smith timing, I bought it about 3 days before the Palm III+ and the Palm V came out, but hey, its a Pilot.  (I also bought this G3 computer about 10 days before they announced price cuts of up to $500.  Ill get over it someday.)  Susie’s wanted a Pilot for a while.  The French mail system is driving us batty waiting for it.

COLLEGE CONNECTION
==================
Susie and I, well, HOP really, just finished a substantial project for the Los Angeles Times; visit http://www.latimes.com/college/ to see the results of a project that Susie and I managed and produced from here.  We did it with assistance from the Times tech team (Tim Maloney), the art group (Mike and Clare), and the omnipresent Dan Hontz.  It was quite smooth, if occasionally difficult to get everyone together for meetings, but no more so that when I was physically present at the Times. 😊  The new section will be a resource for college students and professors, and offers discounted or free subscriptions for Southern California residents.  So ironically, Susie and I don’t qualify.  But we did come out of it with some lovely tote bags!

There.  I said Id write, and now I have.  I’m sure there’s something I’ve left out, but I cant think of it right now.  And as you might have guessed from all the food references in the last few paragraphs, I’m getting hungry.

Overheard

“The sad truth is that most evil is done by people who never make up their minds to be good or evil.”

...who said it?

“Almost every American I know does trade large portions of his life for entertainment, hour by weeknight hour, binge by Saturday binge, Facebook check by Facebook check. I’m one of them. In the course of writing this I’ve watched all 13 episodes of House of Cards and who knows how many more West Wing episodes, and I’ve spent any number of blurred hours falling down internet rabbit holes. All instead of reading, or writing, or working, or spending real time with people I love.”

...who said it?

“Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.”

...who said it?

“I play with variables constantly.”

...who said it?

“Only the person who has learned Continual Love coming from a heart of Gratitude/Worship can effectively deal with the problem of loneliness.”

...who said it?
