Next entry: I’m now the legal owner of 92 cars. Well, more like partial owner. I share them with 1736 other people in the Vancouver Cooperative Auto Network. I signed up last Tuesday, drove my first one Thursday, and have another checked out today. I’m no expert, but my friends have asked me a lot of questions about the CAN program over the past few days, so let me take a swing at this in Q/A format. Q: Are the cars nice? Q: Are the cars parked near me? Q: How do you book it? Q: Do they charge a monthly fee, an hourly fee, or a mileage fee? Q: Include gas? Q: That’s it? Q: So it took how long to sign up? Q: So are you, Travis, now saving the Earth? Q: Will you, Travis, keep using it? Q: Can anyone join? Q: What’s this about parking? I’ll share more as I learn about the program, and of course, I’ve simplified things a bit—they gave me a 40 page intro guide during the hour-long orientation, so I’ve shortened things down. |
