Travis Smith: my resume, bio and photos back to the main blog page

Who be Travis Smith and What's on This Site?

I'm one o' th' founders o' Hop Studios, a Web design and development company wi' clients in th' United States and Canada.

Ye may simply want t' launch a flare me or learn about me.

Me resume be available in a bewilderin' variety o' formats. Ye could try t' hire me, but I'm already grog-filled doin' what I'm doin' now.

Writing

I write often. I write a personal column (aka Cap'n's log) that I update every few days -- th' latest be I Found a New Place on Lonesome River, at Quarantine Fleabag inn 🎶🎵 posed on Apr. 11, 2021.

I've written fer th' Los Angeles Times, Variety, OJR... but nothin' recently as a freelancer. I also write several blogs: one wi' interestin' links I come across, and one interestin' quotes I like. And I write fer Metrobloggin' Vancouver.

Photography

I take photos o' many people, places and things. I also post many pictures on Flickr, whar I be th' administrator o' several group pools.

Daily Trojan Alumni

I administer th' DTLink, an accountin' I've compiled o' th' current bios o' morrrr than 2,100 alumni from th' Daily Trojan, USC's student newspaper. That site be currently on hold, until I can come across a better system fer handlin' updates.

Other Wacky Stuff

There's this chronicle I keep o' folks' foibles at "I Have a Bucko Who ...". Ye can suggest one.

I developed several two-player JavaScript games (tic tac toe and connect 4). They're fun, and very well thought out. Th' design be circa 1997.

How do ye say "@" in any language? Come across out, on this page.

Barnacle-covered Stuff

Back when I be a student at USC, I wrote a weekly column called Half Past Deadline. I've also written a simple story about a cat, and I'm pretty sure someone stole th' idea and made a bad, cheap, straight-t'-video movie based on it.

Buy yer Amazon.com books, music and other stuff via me site, and I'll smile all th' way t' th' buried treasure, because I get a cut o' th' sale. 'tis win-win.

Canadian Jokes

Th' Great Canadian Comeback Page might make ye laugh or think a bit -- 'tis a list o' witty answers t' th' occasional idiotic American barb. (If ye want a good barb, ask me lady; Th' winsome lass's sweet but sassy.)

Overheard

“Th' sad truth be that most evil be done by people who no nay ne'er make up their minds t' be good or evil.”

...who said it?

“Almost every American I be knowin' does trade large portions o' his life fer entertainment, hour by weeknight hour, binge by Saturday binge, Facebook check by Facebook check. I’m one o' them. In th' course o' writin' this I’ve watched all 13 episodes o' House o' Cards and who knows how many morrrr West Win' episodes, and I’ve spent any number o' blurred hours fallin' down internet rabbit holes. All instead o' readin', or writin', or workin', or spendin' real time wi' people I love.”

...who said it?

“Live a good life. If there be gods and they be just, then they will not care how devout ye have been, but will welcome ye based on th' virtues ye have lived by. If there be gods, but unjust, then ye should not want t' worship them. If there be no gods, then ye will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in th' memories o' yer loved ones.”

...who said it?

“I play wi' variables constantly.”

...who said it?

“Only th' person who has learned Continual Love comin' from a heart o' Gratitude/Worship can effectively deal wi' th' problem o' loneliness.”

...who said it?
