The grand total from my birthday wishes, for all the non-duplicated birthday greetings, was .... drum roll please .... $425. Which makes me really happy and is a great gift to Kelli Consuelo Garc?a Reyes. And I was all set to donate that much, really I was, because the loan I chose to fund needed $450 to be complete, so $450 was going to be my absolute ceiling in case this got totally outrageous.
Which it kind of did: I did get birthday greetings from complete strangers and from long-lost work colleagues and I just generally had a great day, so thank you all. And it turns out several of you donated directly to Kiva, so in fact the loan I wanted to help with, by the time I tallied everything up tonight, only needed $350. So I took that as a sign, and donated the needed $350, and another $35 to Kiva directly, and decided that covered it. I will take the next little while to look over Kiva and see if there’s another person who ought to get the remaining $40—if there’s someone *you* think it ought to go to, let me know.
I hope you’ll consider doing the same donation this year with your birthday! It could be $1 a wish—every bit helps.
Today, Sunday, I went fishing with James and Curt. It was a pretty fun time—I caught a fish that was approximately 9% as big as the one James caught, but that was good enough for me.
