Chicago Business Trip

I just flew in from Chicago, and BOY are my arms tired. Ha Ha.  I kid.  Actually, My stomach’s tired—I ate a great deal of meat, and in a very short span. Susie and I were pitching our services to the Department of Cultural Affairs. We were accompanied by Roland Tanglao, a fascinating fellow from Bryght.

Why We Fired David Schultz Rentals

Susie and I are now managing our own property in Pasadena.  It was a six-month process to get to this decision, but we finally hit the last straw and fired our property manager.  The company we hired to property manage, David N. Schultz Rentals, Inc., just couldn’t actually do what they promised, namely, you know, manage our property so we didn’t have to.

Stuck in Russellville

So, I’m stuck in Russellville for a while.  By a while, I mean until they replace a thing called a timing chain in the engine of Debbie’s Jeep.  This would only be a DIFFICULT task, except for the fact that Russellville, while it has a Jeep dealership, doesn’t actually have any timing kits.  Which pushes the needle to IMPOSSIBLE, temporarily.

Dinner With the Cools

I just finished reading a Dave Barry column, one of his old ones from the mid ‘80s.  That guy could WRITE!  I mean, before he started quoting from odd AP articles and writing fiction books, he used to just write columns, and they were better than you even remember them.  They were full of kick like Coca Cola before they removed the cocaine, sweet like the second kiss after the first kiss goes well, and as funny as the laughing you do in a full tent when you’re camping. In a nutshell, I’m inspired, so let me tell you about my dinner.
