Day 7: The Water Advisory Is Over

I’m so happy! Today, the water advisory was called off. The turbidity is much lower now, though the primary reservoir usually used for Vancouver is still out of service. I celebrated by drinking a Diet Coke.  Which was probably worse for me than the water.

Water, Water, Everywhere: Day 6

Apparently, the gods themselves have seen fit to honor my efforts to drink tap water by contributing huge quantities of white flakes of ice from the sky. Because it’s so light and fluffy and easy to blow around, I think I’ll call it “blow.”

Muddy Waters: Day 4 of Drinking Vancouver’s Tap Water

Yesterday was a good day.  The E.Coli alarm was a false one, so I’m still sticking with Vancouver’s tap H-2-OhNo. Well, almost.  I took a short break from my waterfast to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner at Justin and Sue’s place.

Vancouver Water: Day 3

Vomitting? Nope.

The Runs? Nope.
A “social problem”? Nope.
Intense, almost painful craving for Diet Coke? Check.

Drinking the Water, Day 2

I got up this morning, and it felt like my mouth was filled with mud.  I was tired, hungry, and disoriented.  This is pretty much how I feel every morning, though, so I can say the water has had no effect so far.  I walked into the bathroom, had a big glass of water, and brushed my teeth. Luxury!

How Bad Is the Water? Let’s Find Out

As many of you know, there’s a Vancouver-wide water advisory that’s been happening since November 17.  The GVRD Medical Health Authorities have said that no hospitals, day cares or schools can use the water, and that residents could decide for themselves.  So, I’m deciding to drink nothing but tap water.  In your face, E. Coli!

Finally: Alcatraz

Susie and I finally made it today to Alcatraz.  We’ve been trying to visit for years and year—but you have to buy tickets in advance, and, well, we nevr got our acts together. But for my birthday, Susie gave me two tickets to Alcatraz co-inciding with our trip here, and I choo-choo-choosed her to go with me.

Birthday Sleepover 2006

Susie and I went this weekend to hold my annual BIRTHDAY SLEEP-OVER.  (Last year it wasn’t all caps, because it was still in trial stage).  This year, the turnout was just perfect.  Boris, Clint, James, Mandy, Martin, Monique, Rachael, Susie, Tracy, Zak, and I headed over to Lake Cowichan on Vancouver Island.
