Vancouver Garbage Pickup Schedule, in Google Calendar

I spent some quality time wi' Google Calendar and th' schedule from th' City o' Vancouver, what I came up wi' be this handy set o' public calendars that will be tellin' ye when yer garbage should be picked up.  Ye can conscript in Google Calendar, iCal and maybe other programs, too.

KFC Canada: Whar Be Yer Biscuits?

I ate at KFC last night, fer th' first time since arrivin' in Vancouver.  What a bizarre experience! No biscuits!  They have no biscuits!  Not that I like th' biscuits, actualy, but it be an unexpected absence, like th' lack o' French ingredients on cereal boxes in th' United States.

Two Types o' Leaders

I’ve always been envious o' “natural” leaders.  Ye be knowin' th' type.  Get a group o' people together, give them some sort o' problem or challenge t' solve, and one person will float into th' leader position, just like M&Ms float t' th' top o' a bag o' trail mix.

Livin' wi' th' Nokia 6682

It’s been about a month since I received me Nokia 6682 from Matchstick.ca.  In that time, I’ve used it fairly extensively, and I made notes o' me observations o'er time. I present them here in free form.

Fer th' quick version: I like it better than me barnacle-covered phone (Motorola V300), but I don’t love it. It be in some ways a step down, despite its additional features.

Scout Camp 2006

Th' tradition o' Scout Camp continued this year wi' a trip t' somewhere in th' wilds betwixt Lillowet and Pemberton. Martin as usual picked a wonderful hike that managed t' be peaceful, remote, interestin', and as vertical as th' CN Tower.  But ye don’t get a view without goin' up, right?  Luckily, this year there be six o' us, and that made fer light loads: a tent divided three ways be much lighter than one that ye haul yourself.
