Travis Smith: my resume, bio and photos back to the main blog page

“I have no idea what they’re doing. But I will tell you this: You know, God is looking down on all this, and if they are not doing everything in their power to save people, they are going to pay the price. Because every day that we delay, people are dying and they’re dying by the hundreds, I’m willing to bet you.”

WHO? New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin in an interview with CNN, about the federal government’s response thus far.

AND? I can’t believe the culture of fear of the government that has been put in place in the U.S.—listen to this quote from Nagin: “And I’ll tell you, man, I’m probably going get in a whole bunch of trouble. I’m probably going to get in so much trouble it ain’t even funny. You probably won’t even want to deal with me after this interview is over.”  That a mayor would fear the consequences of speaking out against the federal government, well, that tells you something horrific about the state of The States, doesn’t it?
